Well, we've got a bit of a heat wave going on, and as there is little worth seeing in the cinemas (saw Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy this morning - great film), I think that the best way to cope with the weather is with some chill white wine.
Did dinner with some friends at Jim Wong's in Footscray last night, and two bottles of Sauvignon Blanc. Really helped make the heat a bit more bearable.
I don't normally drink white wine, but acquired a few bottles incidentally in recent months from various wine club related deliveries, and this is the perfect time, before I return to work, to get around to getting rid of them by drinking them.
Also sorely tempted to buy some of the very very cheap sparkling wine on sale for under five bucks at the local bottleshop - those are also perfect for this sort of weather.
Other decent wines I am pondering include dolcetto (maybe a bit too sweet), cienna, and moscato - the latter is usually pretty low alcohol.
Another reason I am thinking about white wines and light wines is that, aside from my super-premium reds, I have, in recent months, drank most of my collection of decent red wine.
