Life left in the book retail industry...

After A&R and Borders collapsed last year, things looked rather bleak for bookshops.

Looks like there is still plenty of life in the retail business yet.

Collins has opened a new store in Moonee Ponds, occupying the site of the old A&R store, and Readers Feast has reopened with new backers in the old Georges sites in Collins Street.

Plus, the Book Grocer, whom were, until recently, a small business in Brunswick, have got a chain of very good stores which feature pretty high quality books at pretty cheap prices.

Once my holiday is over, and I have cleared my small backlog of unread books, I expect to do a lot of buying of new books this year.

Just as well that I am planning to buy a few more book cases to fit into my newly renovated lounge room.
