As I left my blog 7 weeks or so ago, I was en route to Newcastle - out of sheer curiousity.
I spent three days in Newcastle, and I can attest to it being one of the most boring places I have been to (OK - I think Lara is worse - but then, Lara is a very small town).
There was very little to do, although some of the pubs were quite nice, and their main restaurant drag, Beaufort Street, does not have a patch on Melbourne, Sydney, or even Adelaide.
So... I went, and I added one stubby holder (from the Lemon Grove tavern in Walls End) to remember this trip by, and I don't think I will have any reason to visit Newcastle ever again.
