Ta ta Fosters

So, to the disgust of small shareholders like myself, Fosters is being sold off to SABMiller.

A great shame - it has some iconic Victorian beers in its stable.

What this does mean is that drinkers like me who like to buy Australian product are going to boycott Fosters product.

There are some options for Australian owned beers:

. Gage Road - a good drop and 25% owned by Woolworths, which makes it pretty takeover proof

. Coopers - family owned still - and they are ruthless about keeping control of it.

. Broo - a small company which has about 6000 shareholders, including me, who got their shares by buying a slab last January.

And of course there are a lot of other mircobreweries like Mountain Goat for example - I should stop in at Mrs Parmas in Little Bourke and check out what more ones they have.
